Early Childhood Program:  Ages 5-9

This is such a fun age to watch the dancers really progress and soak in all they learn each week. It’s an exciting time!

My child is age 5-9 and new to dance:  Dancers may choose from Level 1 classes (example Tap 1 or Ballet 1) or combo classes (example Jazz/Tap or Ballet/Lyrical).

My child is 5 and took at least one DDA Pre-School level class: They are now ready to move to a level 1 class or a combo class for ages 5 and up! Some dancers even do one of each - example: Ballet/Lyrical and Tap 1. This way, they get in THREE styles in just two classes!

My child is age 6-9 and is a current DDA student:  If they've been in level 1 or combo classes for at least one full year, they should be ready for level 2 - but contact us to confirm if you haven't heard from us that your dancer should move up. Every dancer progresses at a different pace. They should continue to take their current level 1, 2, or combo classes until you receive written notice that they should move up a level.

Musical Theater and Poms are non-leveled classes and great options for this age, too! Adding a Stretch class is always a plus.

Our instructors follow the same structured lesson plans for all class levels (Pre-School through Level 7) to ensure accuracy and consistency throughout our program. To move to a level 2 or higher, dancers must have certain skills and technique mastered. When they are ready, a notice will come in written form from the studio.

Lyrical: Lyrical is a fusion of ballet and jazz technique, that utilizes slow fluid movements to interpret music and express emotion while telling a story through the art of dance. Should have at least one year of ballet or jazz training before starting.
