Dreams Dance Academy is proud to present the Kane County Talent Contest in 2022! We are so excited to bring this very missed talent contest back to the Annual Kane County Fair. It was always a wonderful event and we are honored to take it over! PLEASE NOTE DDA STUDENTS ARE NOT ALLOWED TO PARTICIPATE AS THAT WOULD BE A CONFLICT OF INTEREST SINCE WE DDA STAFF WILL BE JUDING.

* Please note that DDA dancers are not allowed to participate, as DDA is the sponsor of this event and DDA staff will be judging.

CONTEST RULES

Open to any person or group (school/organized group) residing in Kane County. The Contest is open to ALL types of entertainment. Entertainment must be family friendly entertainment. Suggestive material, music or costumes may be disqualified.

 

There are three age Divisions:

Mini  – Age 9-11

Junior – Age 12-14

Senior - Age 15-18

 

Contestant will be entered in the age division that they will be on July 16, 2022.

Note: Group entries must have contestants all in the same age division. If group has members that fall in multiple age divisions, group must enter in age division of the oldest member(s).

 

The first round (Preliminaries) will be held Saturday, June 25, 2022 at Dreams Dance Academy, located at 2460 West Main Street in St. Charles. Please register on www.dreamsdance.com and you will be given a 15 minute time slot after we process your registration (please allow 24-48 hours). Auditions will begin at 3:00pm. There is a $10 entry fee (for groups, each contestant needs to pay the $10 fee).

 

Contestants who advance to the finals will be announced on the Dreams Dance Academy Facebook page on Sunday June 26. These contestants will advance to the final round.

 

For those who advance to that final round which takes place at the Kane County Fair, that will be held Sunday, July 17, 2022 at the Prairie Events Center at the Kane County Fairgrounds during the annual Kane County Fair. Talent Contest finals begin at 4:00pm.

 

Acts may last no longer than 4 minutes. Set-up time is limited to 3 minutes. Any act exceeding these time limits will be disqualified.

 

All acts must be presented at the final round competition (finals) in the exact same way as they were presented in the first round (preliminaries). Costumes and make-up involved in the act must also be used in the first round (preliminaries). Any changes in this regard or in the act will result in disqualification.

 

Your act will be judged based on the following criteria:

Technique (Ability) - 25 points

Stage Presence - 15 points

Audience Appeal - 5 points

Appearance (Costume) - 5 points
